Who would be the audience for your media product?
I have decided to rate my film an 18. Looking at the BBFC, their first issue that makes a film a 18 is ‘very strong violence’. My film will contain scenes of very strong violence due to the whole plot being based around my characters experimentation on humans for pleasure. My title sequence contains scenes of strong violence with the use of blood and weapons. However we see no violence occurring. This lets the audience know that there will be more graphic scenes of violence in the film. The other issues they talk about follow this theme of blood, gore and violence which again confirms my choice to make my film an 18 rating. In my initial research into target audience I created a profile of my ideal audience member. I have kept in line to this as I would still say that all the information I wrote applies to my film. It is hard to generalise a target audience as there are many different types of people who will be interested. As well as the profile I have shown, my film could appeal to females around the similar age range or young adults around the age of 19.As part of my initial research I also conducted a questionnaire which I sent out to students in my school. I found that not many people replied to my email, however out of the ones that I received back, the majority of them contained action/thriller as the main theme. The responses with action/thriller genres were all male around the age of 17/18. I simply asked a handful of people my age to watch my final piece and tell me what they liked or disliked about it and whether or not they would watch on it if was to be made into a full length film. These responses were exactly the type of responses I was hoping for as they all addressed the particular things I included in order to attract my audience. The negative response that i recieve “The small font of the credits throughout bugged me slightly” “I did not like the use of tiny font for the credits as they are difficult to read.” The only actual negative responses that I received were these. The small font of the credits was picked up on by two audience members, which leads me to think that I should have enlarged them a bit more so that they would be easy to read and stand out more clearly and boldly. However, my reason for having such small credits was to portray a more professional and subtle theme, which mirrored the disguise and discreetness of my character in open society. Also, if I was going to change something in order to get a better response from my audience, I would change the fact that there is not very much blood. I feel that there is a lot of room for more gore and blood as there is only a couple of times where blood is used.
