What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
A media institution is a well established organization that deals with the creation and distribution of media products. The main major film studios are known as the hollywood big six, and include Paramount, Columbia, Universal, Warner Bros and 20th Century Fox. However I think the media distribution that might distribute my film would be a smaller company called Lionsgate. This is because in general they have produced more thriller/horror films than other major film studios. The kind of media institution that might distribute our media product would be Universal studios was launched in April 30 1912. They are an american studios which is owned by comcast and this is one of Hollywood Big 6. Its a production that produce over 100 films each year. Universal is fouth oldest major studios. Lionsgate is one of the most comercially successful independent studios, as well as one of the most profitable. Over the years, Lionsgate have produced many television series and films in the thriller genre for example, 'Five days to midnight' 'The dead zone' and 'American Psycho'. Out of all the other major film companies, Lionsgate has produced the most thriller films, leading me to believe they would be the most likely to want to produce it. The main reason why I think universal would distribute our product, because looking most of there thrillers for there films, I think that we would fit the cretria and also make them quite a bit of profit because our film is quite eye catching and also dont give too much away also its something that people would pay to watch. I think we would have a really strong audience and pull alot of young people to watch this because of the thriller.
